CHILHOWIE, Va.; CALVIN H. "C.H." GORE, JR. age 88, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va. C.H. was a loving father, husband and papaw. Papaw Gore was known to take his granddaughter fishing and end up catching her by the shirttail. He was a proud World War II veteran. He retired from Marion's Brunswick Defense Corporation after 12 plus years. Mr. Gore loved his family and his country. His friends and family will miss his wit and his laughter. He will be missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Pauline Gore; and parents, Calvin and Hallie Anderson Gore. C.H. is survived by two daughters, Regina Cooper and husband, Tim of Independence, Va. and Beth Cook and husband, Joey of Marion, Va.; one son, Dewey Calvin Gore of Abingdon, Va.; two granddaughters, Ashley Beth Cooper and Amy Beth Cook; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Doug and Mary Ann Trivett of Chilhowie, Va. for their selfless care and devotion to their father. Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Baptist Union Church Cemetery, Flatridge, Va. with Mr. Blake Frazier officiating.
