Brenda Jean Thomas Eller age 71, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.

It’s hard to describe Brenda with just words – she was a kind hearted, natural provider and nurturer; not for just her family, but also her friends, co-workers, nursing home residents, and all the “critters” that came around. Brenda worked hard to provide for her family, Holston Harwood, Tultex, Klockner, and the nursing home in Seven Mile Ford, Va. Brenda was a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Saltville, Va. – helping raise funds by going door to door taking donations to get the church started becoming one of the very first members. Of all that she accomplished in life – Brenda’s favorite thing was being “mamaw”; and she was the best.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Thomas; brothers, Wendell, Darrell and Lendell Thomas; sister, Mary Burnop Hammer.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Charles Eller of Marion, Va.; sons, Joey Kirk (Charlene) of Marion, Va., Randy Kirk of Atkins, Va., Eric Kirk (Tanya) of Saltville, Va.; stepchildren, Sara McGuire (Gerald), Brandy Kelly and Chad Kelly; sisters, Annie Bell and Juanita Marlow, both of Marion, Va.; brothers, Henry “Butch” Thomas and Gary Thomas (Regina), all of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Cameron Kirk, Austin Kirk, Hannah Kirk, Denim Kirk and Candice Berry; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families.   

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Resurrection Gardens, 442 Freedom Tabernacle Lane, Atkins, VA 24311 with Pastor Mike Sage officiating.
