Blana Mae Johnson, age 93, of Chilhowie, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Born to the late John and Sarah Shelton, she lived a full life centered around friends, family, and faith. Blana's kindness and love will remain an enduring inspiration and source of strength to all who knew her.

Blana was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Johnson, and daughter, Patty Johnson, as well as her siblings Charlotte Greer, Violet Carter, Wanda Stoker, J.C. Shelton, Stanley Shelton, and Willis Shelton.

Her memory is carried on in her surviving children, Becky Johnson, Susie (Neil) Castrodale, David (Sara) Johnson, and John (Melissa) Johnson. She took pride in her grandchildren: Brett (Palmer) Castrodale, Krista (Tyler) Staton, Ashley (Brandon) Thomas, Jessie as (Hannah) Johnson, Adam (Alexandria) Johnson, and Jared (Megan) Johnson, as well as eight great-grandchildren who brought her much joy. Blana is also survived by her sister Jeanne Freeman; brother Don (Joyce) Shelton; sister-in-law Peggy Johnson; special niece Tamara (Jason) Rowland and nephew Chris (Lisa) Johnson; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 15 at noon at the Middle Fork Cemetery, Middle Fork Road, Chilhowie, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. A celebration of life will take place on her birthday, May 25, at 4:00 p.m. at her home: 574 Apple Valley Road, Chilhowie, VA.
