Bessie Arlene Buchanan Echols, age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.

Bessie is remembered having a sweet, kind, gentle spirit, with a smile for those around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Echols; parents, William and Verna Buchanan; four brothers; and four sisters.

Bessie is survived by two nieces, Linda Gotthardt of San Marcos, Texas and Susan Van Gerpen and husband, William of Kearney, MO.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and very special friend, Maxine Starkey.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Cemetery, 607 Thomas Bridge Road, Marion, Va. Family and friends are asked to follow the COVID-19 Safety & Social Distancing Guidelines.
