Aleen was a wonderful, loyal, and loving mother, daughter, sister, granny and friend to many. She never knew a stranger and her grandchildren were her favorite hobby. She enjoyed having picnics and family gatherings at her most favorite place at Lake Witten in Tazewell, Va. She was an amazing cook, making sure everyone was fed and once they were, they kept coming back, especially with her famous gravy n’ biscuits or fried chicken. Her family loved her unconditionally, as she was also loved by so many others.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Marie Marrs; parents, Roy and Lakey Asbury; and 9 brothers and sisters.
Aleen is survived by daughter, Darla Wyatt and her husband Leslie of Statesville, NC; sons, Jody Marrs and wife Vicki of Wytheville, Va., Toby Marrs, also from Wytheville, Va., and Clyde Marrs of Bristol, Va.; sisters, Wilma Tolley and husband Clay of Bluefield, Va., Shirley Bailey and husband Bill of Martinsville, Va.; brother, Jimmy Asbury of Bishop, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Ellie, Cameron, Kelsey, Kayla, TJ, Zachary, Jeremy, Darla, Dustin, Ashlyn, Darriean; 10 great-grandchildren, Ailiyah, Olivia, Isabella, Charles, Boone, Alexia, Kinsley, Maria, Autumn, Legend; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Angie McGuire, Howard Alley, and Angie Lawson.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023; location and time is yet to be determined and will be updated when available.
