Anne Hutton Parsons

Anne Hutton Parsons, age 93 passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at her home.

Anne was born September 8, 1932 to the late Samuel and Lora Hutton. She was a life-long member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church and a Christian example to her children and the community. She was the Clerk of the Homemakers Extension office and was involved with WMU. Anne was a loving wife for nearly 70 years of marriage to her husband Carl, as well as a cherished and loving mother to her children and “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Parsons, Jr.; siblings, Loretta Boyd, Ruth Shupe, Ruby Parks, Helen Brown, Wilma Shupe, Gale Hutton; and sons-in-law, Joe Thompson and Doug Testerman.

Anne is survived by her daughters, Deborah Parsons Thompson, Lora Parsons Testerman; son, Sam Parsons and wife, Mary; sister-in-law, Grace Hutton, all of Sugar Grove, Va.; grandchildren, Travis Testerman and wife, Jill, Zachary Pennington and wife, Jenny, Heather Parsons and husband, Mark and Julia DeLizzio and husband, Geoff; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Special thanks to Anne’s caretakers, Missy Atwood, Jill Testerman, Kathy Parks, Linda Widener and Melissa Clark; the ladies of Acti-Kare Senior & Home Care; and the staff at Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 1 until 2 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion, Va. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kenny Price officiating. Burial will be private in Hutton-Cox Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va.
