William "Bill" Leedy

William "Bill" Leedy, age 83, died Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Bill was born in Marion and lived here most of his life. He was a graduate of Marion College, and made many friends while working at Harwood as a Data Processing Manager. Bill was a deacon and active member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Marion. He proudly earned the title World's Greatest Pappy by loving to fish with his grandchildren, as they would visit each summer. No matter the catch, the fishing adventure would end with a trip to Cracker Barrel. As his health began to decline, Bill and his wife of 61 years, Geneva, moved to Madison, Mississippi to be with their daughter, Rhonda and her children. Bill Leedy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roby and Ruby Leedy; two sisters, Sybil Prater and Violet Russell.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Geneva Leedy of Marion, Va. and Madison Miss.; daughter, Rhonda Burnett of Madison, Miss.; grandchildren, Chelsea Wohlgemuth and husband, Baron of Madison, Miss., Ursula Daniels and husband, Sgt. Spencer Daniels of Sneads Ferry, N.C., and Raymond "Raes" Burnett, IV of Madison, Miss.; and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Ryan Cox officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Va. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.

I was sad to hear of brother Leedy's passing. He was a great blessing to me and I know he was also to Brother Ryan and the folks at Gethsemene. But I am envious of him also because of where he is --HOME!--. Looking forward to seeing him again soon. He will be missed. I will be praying for you in the days ahead.

Sweet Geneva and Rhonda, I am so sorry to learn of this loss! Carla Berry let me know just a few minutes ago. I mentioned to her that you, Geneva, and Bill were like additional parents to me during our junior and senior high school days; always kind and loving. I am so sorry for your loss, and will keep you and your family in prayer as you walk through your time of grieving and loss. You certainly do not grieve as ones who have no hope. I hope the Holy Spirit brings you comfort as you recall where your dear husband and father rests now. Love to you both, Amy Scott

Dear Geneva and family, I am sorry to hear about Bill. I didn't know you had moved. I pray for God to comfort your hearts during this time and give you peace. I am thankful that God went away to prepare a place for us and He will come again and take us back with Him. John 14:1 Sincere Sympathy, "Polly"
