Shirley Vaught Hull

Rural Retreat, Va. Shirley Vaught Hull, age 77, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va. She was born August 7, 1941 in Rural Retreat to the late Walter Con and Blanche Harmon Vaught. Shirley worked at Donnkenny Apparel for over 20 years and another 7 years as a cashier at Food Country. She loved to cook, and her homemade sourdough bread was loved by many. Folks would come to see her at Food Country just to buy it. Her chocolate pies were also amazing and a favorite to many. Shirley never met a stranger, and was a hard worker. She always made sure her family was provided for. She was simply put, a wonderful person. Shirley was also a faithful Bingo player every week until her health prevented it. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by many. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Bernard Edward Hull; and brother Frank Vaught. Shirley is survived by her children, Missy Hull Fleming and husband, Keith of Scarborough, Maine, Angela Hull Heldreth of Rural Retreat, Va., and Keith Edward Hull and wife, Michelle of Wytheville, Va.; grandchildren, Brendan Fleming, Garrett Fleming, and Khorey Hull; brothers, Danny Vaught and wife, Jane of Rural Retreat, Va. and Charles Vaught and wife, Rhonda of Wytheville, Va.; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, all services will be private. To share memories of Shirley Vaught Hull, please visit www.seaverbrown.com. This is Martha Copenhaver Rocco and I have lived here out west in Phoenix, AZ for almost 10 years. I am saddened by Shirley's death but I have many fond memories of walking the dirt road to get to Grandma's former home and we would talk and laugh... Shirley had a wonderful sense of humor. Condolences to all her family...she will be missed by many!!
