MARION, VIRGINIA

Sarah was born in West Virginia on September 6, 1954 and made the decision to move to Marion in the early 1970’s. There, she met the love her life, Alva (Toby) McElraft and married him in 1973. She was a devoted and loving mother, and grandmother, to six children and nine grandchildren.

Sarah always offered an upbeat attitude and generous sense of humor to those she encountered and displayed tremendous courage throughout her life! She will be missed!

Family remaining to cherish her memory include her daughters, Amanda D. McElraft of Marion, Va. and Julia Akers and husband, Thomas of Ft. Wayne. Ind.; sons, Phillip McElraft of St. Louis, Mo., Chris McElraft and wife, Dianna of Abingdon, Va., Brian McElraft of St. Louis, Mo. and Jerry Brooks of Marion, Va. Nine grandchildren also survive.

A Celebration of Sarah’s Life will be conducted on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seaver-Brown Funeral Home, Marion, with Pastor Mike Sage officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
