Obituary

Robert “Bob” Leigh Copeland, Jr., age 79, of Maumelle, Arkansas, entered his heavenly home on June 25, 2018.

He was a loving, devoted man who leaves a legacy of compassion and faith for his family that spans three generations.  His sense of humor was infectious; his dedication, steadfast; his determination, resolute. He found great joy in his family, church family, and the many close friends he made throughout his journey.

Bob was born on November 23, 1938 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Robert Leigh Sr. and Frances (Sheppard) Copeland.  He graduated from Craddock High School in Portsmouth, Virginia; earned his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia; and enjoyed a long, successful, career working for Brunswick Corporation, Imperial Chemical Industries, and A. O. Smith at locations across Virginia, Michigan, Florida, Minnesota, Kansas, and Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Arlene Copeland who went to be with the Lord only twenty days prior to his passing; and his sister, Jean Copeland Kelly.

He is survived by his children: Leigh Ann and Jack Conklin of Ladera Ranch, California; Robin Copeland of Marion, Virginia; Todd and Cindy Copeland of Chesterfield, Virginia; Bryan and Lorena Copeland of Marion, Virginia; Melinda and Marvin Rose of Baytown, Texas; David and Ruth Price of Dover, Pennsylvania; his brother John Copeland of Sugar Grove, Virginia; 16 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Bob was a loyal member of Park Hill Baptist Church, where he and Arlene attended faithfully for 19 years.  He cherished the fellowship with the members of his Sunday School class there.  He will be dearly missed by his loved ones, while they celebrate his life and the fact that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
