MARION, Va. Louise Evelyn Dempsey, age 86, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va. Ms. Dempsey was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She retired from Harwood with many memories and friends. Aunt Evelyn loved her garden, flowers and giving handmade quilts to family for weddings, new babies, and other special occasions. She was a simple lady, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Selba and Ethel Dempsey; brothers, Sherman, Gene and Harold Dempsey; and sister, Gilda Smuthers. Evelyn is survived by her brother, Neal Dempsey of Marion, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at West Cemetery, Marion Va. with the Reverend David Neitch officiating.
