Jonnie Bell Pruner

Jonnie Bell Pruner, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at her home in Marion, Va. She was born on January 14, 1946 in Marion to the late Andrew Stephen Pruner and Flora Marie Cook Pruner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Rev. Ralph T. Hubble. Jonnie was first and foremost a servant and minister to her Lord as she was called into missionary work. She served on numerous trips to Central and South America, but was not limited only to these regions. She has been known and is known for her reputation to highly influence and witness for her Lord and Savior to anyone who would listen. Her ministry and missionary work was certainly her passion. Jonnie will certainly be missed, but she now resides safely in the Savior’s arms and is at peace. Jonnie is survived by her step-sister, Darlene Richardson and husband Donnie of Shawsville, Va.; nephew, Dale Heath of Marion, Va.; first cousins, Judy Gorham and husband Perry of Roanoke, Va. and Ronnie Cook and wife Nancy of Petersburg, Va. and a close friend, Betty McClure of Marion, Va. Memorial Services to honor Jonnie’s life will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Rick Stancil officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of God Ministries; Attn. Mission Project #42.40236/Guatemala; P.O. I worked for Johnnie as a housekeeper but then she became one of my closest friends. I just now heard of her passing sadly but I know she was ready to go home to be with her Lord and not have to feel bad anymore like I know she had ! I had asked my mother to call and try to get ahold of her just the other day and I also sent out a Christmas card not knowing of her passing . I am saddened to know that I didn't get to say goodbye to her or to come to her services , and that it has been over a year since her passing without me knowing, but I am glad that she has entered Heaven's gates !

I was in Marion Sr. High School with Jonnie Bell but I didn't know her well then. In the past several years I got to know her better. She came to my church at Marion 1st. Church of God plus I knew her in another way & we became close friends & helped each other in different ways. She was a remarkable person as my preacher William McCollian said last Sunday. I'll miss her so much. She could talk about life issues & tell a verse from the Bible that pertained to it & that is amazing. She was such a good person to talk to. One thing I remember a few months ago. She told me on the phone that she told her Dr. how God had blessed her. She told me he was surprised at her saying this because she was so sick. I was amazed also but this shows her strong faith & to me, this is an example of her witnessing her faith to the doctor & to me also. Heaven has gained a wonderful person with her presence. She'll be missed by so many.

My Sympathy and Condolences to The Family of Jonnie Bell. She was a dear friend in school Class of 65. She and I had so many good laughs and So much fun during high school. We lost touch as close friends through the years but I was always delighted to see her and her radiating smile in the times I did see her. May She rest in peace, and May God Bless the family during there time of grief. Joyce Vaught
