SUGAR GROVE, Va.

Franklin Rector Currin, age 82, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his home in Sugar Grove, Va.

He was born October 29, 1935 in Sugar Grove, Va. to the late Oden and Alma Hamm Currin. Rector was a member of Wharf Hill United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army and was retired from Sprint after 37 years of service. Mr. Currin will be remembered lovingly as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alta C. Balow; and a grandson, Thomas Musser.

Rector is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Thomas Currin of Sugar Grove, Va.; daughter, Lisa Musser and husband, Ed of Rural Retreat, Va.; son, Dr. John Currin and wife, Dr. Nancy Currin of Blacksburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Matthew Musser, Andrew Musser, Brian Currin and Katelyn Currin.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Wharf Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va. where Military Honors will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at Wharf Hill United Methodist Church.
