Charles Durdward Proxmire

d. October 17, 2018

Lebanon, Va.

Charles 'Dick' Durdward Proxmire was taken up to be with the Lord in all His glory on October 17th, 2018. Dick was 78 years old. He was a wonderful man who was loved, will be missed, and will always be cherished. Dick was the only son born to Durdward and Oma Geren Proxmire in Paulding County, Ohio, in 1940.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Dick attended the Lebanon Baptist Church. He retired from the food processing industry at Campbell Soup Supply Company after 33 years with time spent in both the Napoleon OH and Douglas GA facilities. After retirement, Dick and Ellie moved back to her home of Southwest VA where they loved to sit on the front porch overlooking the mountains and pastures in Lebanon VA. Woodworking, metal machining and restoring antique cars were a few of Dick's hobbies.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Ellenor Eudine Powers Proxmire; his four sons; Richard (Dawn), Keith (Gabriele), Joe (Rebecca) and Thomas (Kim); daughter-in-law, Sharon; grandchildren Keith, Ryan, Justin, Heather and Kara; sister, Phyllis March; special friend, Flora Jonas; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, family members and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all family, close friends, and medical team members who offered their support, love, and prayers throughout the years. You made a huge difference in Dick's life and we truly appreciate you.

Graveside services will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 at 2:30p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery, 53 Memorial Avenue, Mountain Home, Tenn. 37684 with Military Rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
