Carrie T. Sexton

MARION, Va.

Carrie T. Sexton, age 96, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Francis Marion Manor.

Miss Carrie was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and grandmother. She loved to be with her family most of all. Carrie was a loving friend who spent as much time as she could being with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reber Sexton; parents, William and Nannie Thompson; siblings, Reeves Thompson, Trixie Shumate, Blye Pugh, Wanda McGrady, Greer Thompson and Wave Brooks; good friends, Edna Seymour and Ruby Johnson.

Carrie is survived by her daughter, Martha Russell and husband, Joe of Marion, Va.; sisters, Hazel Blackburn and husband, James of Independence, and Oakie Faircloth of Aberdeen, Md.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Gentry and husband, Allen of Chilhowie, Va., and Jamie Russell of Marion, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Gentry and Kerri Jo Gentry, both of Chilhowie, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nancy Hart, Betty Henderson, and Edith Bise, all of Marion, Va.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Herman Cress officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Guestbook

I loved Miss Carrie and will never forget the wonderful times and conversations we all had when she would come into the office to visit with Linda,Peggy and me. She always left laughing. I remember Mr. Bland always aggregating her about her red hair. Carrie was one of a kind. She has well earned her home in heaven. Rest in peace my friend.
